She was provided with a phone number to call and she stupidly called them. Wow this just happened to my mother just now!! My poor mother who isn’t tech savvy was told from Amazon that her account was hacked via text message. She canceled her debit card and I changed the Amazon password. Is it possible for him to still have access through AnyDesk? Do we need to go in and delete the program? Anything else we need to do? I told her for now to shut the computer off until I make sure he can no longer access it. Paypal said that we didn't need to do anything with them since the bank is disputing the charge. Per the bank, the PayPal charge was for Cryptohub. So, as far as I can tell the only sensitive info he got was her debit card number. She saw a box on the screen for anydesk and hit disconnect. She got suspicious at this point and the call ended. He tried to get her to log into her bank account online but luckily she doesn't do online banking! He then asked for social security numbers and was talking about setting up PayPal for her so he could refund the fraudulent Amazon charge and then was talking about Bitcoin. He had her enter her debit card number (which she has since canceled- there was a $400 fee charged through PayPal that the bank is disputing). The guy guided her through logging into amazon and then anydesk. She got a text from "Amazon" saying her account was hacked. My mom was just targeted with an AnyDesk scam :(
